As our local kids prepare to don their uniforms for the first time in many months, let’s give a shout out to St Peter’s Junior School and James Peacock Infant & Nursery School for taking all the steps needed to keep them safe.
The staff at both schools have worked tirelessly to put the necessary arrangements in place, which must have been something of a logistical nightmare. The measures required by the Government are extremely wide-ranging, covering everything from space management to additional cleaning, processes for arriving and leaving, to “infection action plans”.
It must have been a great deal of hard work, so we’d like to say a huge “Thank you” to our teachers and support staff for their efforts. Not to mention all the work they put in during lockdown to provide teaching resources and online learning during the spring and summer terms.
Of course, school life will be a little different with COVID-19 precautions in place. But we’re sure most of our village children (not to mention their parents!) will be glad to get back to school and resume some kind of normality.
