………. is what’s being promised by Ruddington’s latest new traders! “Something Special” is to be a traditional card and gift shop opening at the former Crusader Gift Shop (and prior to that their fancy dress shop) at the corner of High Street and Easthorpe Street in the village centre.
It’s the idea of Craig and Paula Baldwin – who saw the vacant unit and thought it would be the perfect size and location to expand their business. “We already have a similar shop in East Leake, which has been very successful” says Craig, “so we’re hoping Ruddington will like us, too. We’ll be offering something a bit different to the other shops so hope we can complement what’s already here.”
Exclusive lines will include Yankee candles, British-made Orchard Toys, Willow Tree figurines, and “nappy cakes”. They’ll also stock picture frames, jewellery, scarves, confectionery, helium balloons and other party-ware plus a wide range of cards and gift-wrap. They’re planning to recruit their shop staff locally.
“Something Special” will be open Monday to Saturday from early November. Meantime you can find out more online at
