St Mary’s Community Park was officially opened in February 2015. It was the culmination of a lot of hard work by a small but dedicated group of local volunteers. Led by Nikki Herbison (who sadly suddenly passed away in 2014) and with the support of local businesses, organisations and individuals, the group managed to raise the funds to turn this neglected piece of land into the fantastic play facility it is now.
During the October 2017 half-term holiday, several local children helped me plant some bulbs and perennials, provided by “Ruddington Fun”, in a small area of garden next to the footpath leading to Lings Crescent.
This will hopefully develop into a “splash” of natural colour to complement this area. I’d like to thank Ruddington Parish Council for enabling us to create a garden area in the park, and to the children who came along to help.
