Andrew Buchanan, Vicar at St Peter’s Church in Ruddington, approached the Framework Knitters’ Museum last autumn. He wanted new Stoles for the church and wondered if they could be knitted at the Museum. This commission was a challenge for employee Helen Brownett – how to produce something suitable using the circular sock machines at the museum. Helen is a talented textile designer and she soon worked out what to do. Four Stoles were knitted, lined and embroidered, and were handed over just before Christmas. They were dedicated during the morning service on Sunday January 31st, and will now be regularly in use. The Framework Knitters’ Museum was honoured to be selected for such a commission and appreciates the fact that Stoles produced in the Museum will be in service at St Peter’s for the foreseeable future.
