The “world’s biggest bedroom” was the venue for bedtime stories as children from St Peter’s Junior School celebrated World Book Day.
The school hall was transformed into a bedroom with sofas, bean bags, cosy rugs and blankets for the after-school event, where children, who came in onesies and slippers, were treated to traditional story- reading and mugs of hot chocolate.
They were also entertained with multi-media stories and poems from famous writers such as Michael Rosen and Benjamin Zephaniah, which were broadcast on a big screen, and even took part in a relaxing yoga session.
“It was a wonderful cosy atmosphere and the children loved it,” said teaching assistant Dan Sinclair, who helped to organise the event. “We’ve previously held the event outdoors in our woodland area, but the children seemed to enjoy being in the world’s biggest bedroom just as much!”
