Each year, children between the ages of 4 and 11 are invited to take part in a Summer Holiday Reading Challenge at our local library. The aim is to read six or more books during the summer holidays.
This year, the challenge has been developed in partnership with the Science Museum Group and features the Gadgeteers. These six fictional young innovators use their creative thinking and teamwork to plan a party for their town’s summer fair celebration.
Children taking part in the challenge will help the Gadgeteers come up with ingenious inventions to make the summer party the best ever.
In libraries, there are stickers and other rewards for every book read. All children who complete the challenge will receive a medal and a certificate.
