Each year, children between the ages of 4 and 11 are invited to take part in a Summer Holiday Reading Challenge at our local library. The aim is to read 6 books during the school break.
Commenting on this year’s Challenge, Oongah Greenwood, Library Manager, said: “I’m really pleased to say that 101 children completed the Animal Antics challenge this year at Ruddington – 58% of those who started.
We really appreciated the continued support from St Peter’s and James Peacock Schools. 50 children from St Peter’s completed the challenge and have their certificates to prove it!
The children really enjoyed solving the ‘Mystery in the Library’, making flap books and snake masks, and code-breaking around the library as part of our activities.
All the staff loved listening to the children’s book challenge choices – they’re so enthusiastic and love a good read.”
