There can’t be many people reading this Newsletter who haven’t heard of Jayne Goodbody, the Clerk to Ruddington Parish Council who is due to retire at Christmas. As her Deputy for the past three and a half years, I am constantly astonished at Jayne’s knowledge of people, places and events going back for nearly 20 years as Clerk and for most of her life as a resident of the village. Always helpful, friendly and informative, Jayne is very well known by the dozens of organisations and people who use and visit St. Peter’s Rooms, the Village Hall and all of the other venues held by the Parish Council.
Starting work in February 1992 as a Clerk/Typist, she was promoted to Deputy Clerk in 1997 and eventually Clerk in October 1997. During her time in the Parish Council Office she has seen 52 different councillors and 24 Chairmen of the Parish Council. Many came and went – but Jayne stayed the course. She is planning to spend more of her time with her children, their partners and her granddaughter Chloe. We all wish her the very best for the future.
Jayne’s replacement has already started in the job – Gary Long, our new Clerk, has been working alongside her for the past few weeks and although he has a lot to live up to, we hope that he will enjoy working in the village as much as she has done.
