Organisers of our monthly Ruddington Village Market have announced yet another departure from the norm for their festive offering this year: they’re planning to run it over three days!
Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP) has revealed the 2023 dates and times will be Thursday 30th November 4pm to 9pm, Friday 1st December 4pm to 9pm and Saturday 2nd December 11am to 5pm. However, it’s not until the final day that the Christmas Market will include additional stalls on High Street and Church Street, which is also when the usual road closures will be put in place.
Street stalls were added on Church Street for the first time last year, and the volume of visitors who thronged our village centre streets that day did catch everyone a bit by surprise, with RVCP marshals needing to introduce a one-way system along the pavements to keep people moving through safely.
Mark Pinks of RVCP says: “Our 2022 Christmas market welcomed far more people than anyone could have predicted, which was a wonderful testament to the love for Ruddington and what we do, but we definitely needed a bit of time afterwards to regroup!
“This year, we’ll be changing things up a bit, taking on board the valuable feedback we received, and adapting the event to ensure stall holders, visitors and the local community have the best time possible.
“We’ll be halving the number of stalls at our one-day street market finale so it’s easier to get around, adding stewards to our crew, using more indoor, outdoor and marquee venues around the village to help spread things out, and extending parts of the off-street event across three days so there’s no rush to visit on one day.”
He adds: “Ruddington Village Market is led by a team of volunteers who live in Ruddington and beyond – we do it for the love of the community, and we can’t wait to share another Christmas with you in 2023.”
Full details about the Christmas Market stalls and attractions will be revealed in due course.
