Ruddington has for many years been twinned with the village of Grenay, which is in northern France, less than one hour from Calais. The Parish Council wishes to actively promote the twinning, in the interests of all who live in Ruddington.
We will plan a programme of activities in partnership with our colleagues in Grenay, although we do need more people to get involved. We really need a ‘twinning committee’ so that the programme of activities can be properly organised and resourced.
If you have an interest in twinning, and some time to spare, please get in touch with the Clerk. A few words of French would help but this is not essential; it might simply be that you want to get involved in order to learn the language.
If you are aged 30 or under we particularly want to hear from you; twinning is an activity that engages many younger people in France. If you just want to promote peace and understanding between countries, that’s what twinning is about and so whatever age you are we’d be pleased to hear from you.
