Monday 21st May saw the Inaugural meeting of the new U3A for Ruddington & District. The Methodist Church was busy with interested retired and semi-retired people socialising and selecting possible interest groups to get involved with.
83 people signed up to become members, at a cost of £20 a year, and several took membership details away with them to share with friends.
The Steering Committee, of which I am one, would like to thank everyone for their enthusiasm.
We’ll now meet on the third Monday of each month at 2pm at the Methodist Church. The format for these general meetings will be a speaker, updates on interest groups and, of course, refreshments and time to socialise.
We’d like to thank our local Co-op who very kindly provided the refreshments for our inaugural meeting.
The next meeting is on June 18th when the Framework Knitters’ Museum will be the subject of a talk by Kathy Powis.
The aim of the new U3A venture in the village is “to enable members to enrich their lives with new skills and experiences, pursue their interests, form new friendships and enjoy a sense of belonging to a vibrant community.”
Please feel free to come along and find out more at the next meeting.
