Ruddington Parish Council is looking to recruit a Grounds Maintenance Apprentice to assist their award winning Grounds Maintenance Team with their busy grounds maintenance work in the Council’s Parks, Playing Fields and Cemeteries. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with a keen interest in horticulture and general maintenance duties.
The role is varied and duties would include preparation of cricket and football pitches, maintenance of a bowling green, grass cutting, strimming, cutting hedges, and maintaining grassed areas in the cemetery.
The ideal candidate would be local to the area, keen to learn, hardworking, reliable and have some interest or experience in horticulture and general maintenance duties.
You will work 37 hours per week between 8am (earliest start) and 4 pm (latest finish), Monday to Friday with some occasional weekend work possibly required. Times may vary depending on the season but this will be discussed at interview.
You will be paid £3.30 per hour for the first six months under the age of 19, increasing to £3.87 per hour for the next six months, and then increasing to either £5.30 per hour for up to age 20 or £6.70 per hour over age 20 for the remaining 12 months.
Training will be provided in the workplace where you will work towards a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Horticulture. The college that you will be attending is Brooksby Melton College, Brooksby, Leicestershire.
