On Tuesday 22nd October, Anita Young, Secretary of the Nottingham Dickens Fellowship, will be at the Framework Knitters Museum to present readings from various Victorian authors. There will be lively “appearances” from Dickens, Eliot and Gaskell – all performed in costume.
A past treasurer of the International Dickens Fellowship and Secretary of the Alliance of Literary Societies, Anita has been delighting audiences with her readings for many years.
Kathy Powis, Chair of The Friends of the Framework Knitters Museum, explains. “Novels, often published in serial form, were the soap operas of Victorian times. Heroes and villains, humour and pathos were all there.
Modern film versions are enjoyed by us all but hearing the words of these great writers read out loud is something else. Anita is a very entertaining and accomplished reader.”
The event starts at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £5 and are available from the museum or by calling 0115 984 5375.
