Recently Richard Copestake and the Team at the local Branch of the Nottingham Building Society welcomed the Sheriff of Nottingham, Councillor Jackie Morris and her consort the Rev Andy Morris to our village. She was here to judge a children’s colouring competition the Branch had organised. She selected 3 winners, Robert, Isabel and Evie.
She also visited the Lovely Little Wool Shop to thank the owner, Karen, for her efforts and those of other village groups in helping to exceed the 11,000 knitted poppies that the recent Radio Nottingham Appeal were aiming for. At the time of her visit she reported that over 100,000 had been received by the campaign. Several of these knitted poppies were evident at the Remembrance Ceremonies held in the village this year.
