In November 1991, the first edition of a new local newsletter called The Rudd appeared. It was welcomed in Ruddington as an “informative vehicle that kept villagers updated on events, happenings, gossip etc”.
The Rudd was started by Lorna McCullough and her friend Joy Murray, and the village was kept informed for 17 years until publication ceased in November 2008.
However, the desire to have a publication just for Ruddington remained and in January 2010, the Parish Council responded by launching the free monthly Village Newsletter.
And despite the new name, numerous residents have continued to refer to it as The Rudd ever since! So a few months ago, the editorial team decided to reinstate the name, and approached Lorna to ask if she’d be happy with this.
She was delighted and so, with Lorna’s blessing, our Village Newsletter will be renamed “The Rudd” from the November edition – and will continue to be free.
