Feel like getting some fresh air and learning something about your local wildlife? Saturday 16th June is the Wilwell Fam Cutting Nature Reserve Open Day. From 10am till 4pm, we’ll be marking up a lot of the wildflowers found on this Site of Special Scientific Interest, as well as other features of note. You’ll also find our nature table in residence along with leaflets about other local reserves.
There’ll be a number of guided walks round the reserve with Gordon Dyne and Tim Williams, or you can just follow our “nature trail” if you prefer. Either way, you’ll see an impressive display of wildflowers including our Southern Marsh Orchids.
The reserve is located between Wilford and Ruddington, near the ring road bridge. Coming from Ruddington, head towards Wilford and look out for the Open Day signs on the left just before the bridge. You’ll find plenty of car parking at the entrance to the Nature Reserve.
The Open Day is part of a programme of wildlife walks and site visits put on locally by Notts Wildlife Trust. For more information, go to www.southnottswildlife.org, then click on the Diary tab and select “Out & About”.
