The W.I. is 100 years old this year and to celebrate Ruddington has a full programme of events:
Tuesday 2June – A Garden Party at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Duchess of Cornwall. One member from every institute in the country has been invited and Evelyn Bedford is going from Ruddington.
26/27/28th June – ‘Inspiring Women’ Flower and Craft Festival at Newstead Abbey. We are depicting Madge Watt a Canadian woman who brought the W.I.to the UK and started the first one in Anglesey. She formed well over 300 W.I’s. Our floral display is headed by Joan Woodhouse.
Saturday 18th July – Garden Party at 200, Loughborough Road. The proceeds will go to the Peter Le Marchant Trust which provides canal trips for disabled people on their boat.
Saturday 19th September – Together with the Gardeners Association there will be a Grand Garden and Craft Show. This will be to celebrate the W.I. Centenary in Ruddington.
We hope to see you all at these events.
