The County Council is facing enormous financial pressure and is consulting on some ways of saving money. One proposal is that the Ruddington Youth and Community Centre be closed from October 2014. This will mean that there will be no organised youth provision available unless people are willing to travel to West Bridgford.
Ruddington Council has decided to consult with the most important group, the young people who use the Centre, before responding to the County. We are fortunate to have councillors with experience of youth work and with open minds about the best way to cater for the needs of Ruddington’s young people.
The economic realities are such that there is a challenge to be met. Ruddington Council is facing that challenge head on and is not getting drawn into the attempts by some at County Hall to politicise the debate. This is about the needs of young people in Ruddington and not about the needs of anyone else.
If you respond to the County’s consultation exercise on www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk it would be helpful to us if you include us in your response office@ruddingtonparishcouncil.gov.uk
